BOUTS FOR THE MONTH LETTER. FROM GLEESON The boxing fixtures for the month have been supplied by the Gisborne Boxing Association as follow : May 31.—Billy Martin v. 11. Jenkins, ' at Auckland. June 2.—Amateur tournament, at To Karaka, June 4.— Gildo v. Bayner, at Wellington. June 4.—Ralph Aitken v. A. Parker, at Hastings. June 4.—Smith v. Glepgarry, at Hastings. June 9.—“ Tiger” Parks v. Barney Downes, at Gisborne. June 14.- Billy Aitken. v. Gildo, at Hamilton. June 16.—P. B. Boxing and Gymnasium Club amateur tournament, at Gisborne. The secretary of the Gisborne Boxing Association, Mr. G. 11. Sceats, is in receipt of a letter from Les. Gleeson, Sydney, seeking matches for Al, Romero, Mexican welterweight, who shortly will he paying a second visit to Australia. Concluding his letter, Gleoson states: “I had the honour to box Jack Hceney and Clubby before your association, and also boxed in Auckland, Timaru, Christchurch', New Plymouth and other associations, and must say never before or since have I been given the grand time I had in New Zealand, particularly with the Gisborne association, Mr. M. W. Craig was secretary and Air. A. M. Lewis, pat.ron.
Advice was received in Gisborno this morning from Mr. "Hilly" Martin, the trainer ol ! "Tiger" Parks, that, they left Wellington this morning and expected to arrive in Gisborno to-morrow. In the nine or 10 days that will remain before his bout with Downs, Parks will train and give exhibitions at Johnny Summers' gymnasium. Ho will bo invited to attend the amateur tournament at To Knraka and give an exhibition.
