Wedding Bells

A pretty wedding was solemnised at tlie residence of the bride's parents at Taradalo, Hawke’s Ray, recently, the contracting parties being Melva K, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. <l. Williamson, of Taradalo, and John, eldest son of Mrs. Cowan and the late Mr. James Cowan, of Hastings. The wedding, which was of much interest to many friends in Wairoa, was conducted by the Rev. Father Riordan, whilst Dr. F. 11. Smale, Auckland, brother-in-law of the bride, ably presided at the piano. The bride, who entered on the arm of her father, was daintily costumed in a long, slim-fitting frock of magnolia satin : fnll-plcated back and sleeves and net halo. She carried a bouquet of different, shades of pink and cream carnations, roses, chrysanthemums, sweet peas, freesias and cyclamen. The bridesmaid was Miss T. Williamson, sister of the bride, who wore a dainty frock of del blue leaf-figured suede crepe, with touches of silver, and carried a bouquet in shades of pink, blue and lavender, asters, chrysanthemums, cyclamen, freesias and sweet peas. The flower-girls were two tiny tots, Misses Sliona Smale and Joan Williamson, nieces of the bride. The former was prettily dressed in shot apricot, and the latter in lettuce-green taffetas. The bride's mother wore a becoming afternoon frock of black georgette, with diamante brooch and buckle. The bridegroom's mother’s dress was a .grey tailored costume of suede, with, waistcoat to match, and grey velour hat with violet, flower, and grey squirrel fur. The duties of best man werg_ably carried out by Mr. James Cowan, brother of the bridegroom. The reception was attended by between !i0 and 60 relatives of the bride and bridegroom, the guests being received bv Mesdames Williamson and Cowan. The happy couple later left for Ardl.een, where they are to reside. Miss Alice Crossland, who is well known for her artistic talent in arts and crafts, has opened a gift depot in Peel street, where beautiful gifts and novelties are displayed. These include lovely trousseau lingerie, birthday and wedding presents of all descriptions, linens, jewellery, and crystal.
