FASTER TIME-TABLES
MAIN TRUNK EXPRESSES USE OF DEVIATION (Pin- Press Association.) WELLINGTON, lasi night. In a statement issued to the press, the Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. n. Sullivan, announced that the important time-table alterations will come into operation on and after ■Tunc 20, following the opening of the new station at Wellington on Saturday, June 10, when all passenger trains will use the Tawsi Flat deviation.
Tito change-over lo tho deviation makes it possible lo reduce appreciably lli'' running time of all trains lining Die Wellingi.on'-Pnltnerston North portion of the Main Trunk. A saving of 42 minutes would bo effected in the running of tlio 3 p.m. Auck-land-Wellington express and a saving oi' 2(1 minutes would bo made in the running of Hip 7 p.m. Auckland-Wel-lington Limited. The arrival and departure time of tho Main Trunk expresses had been arranged to coincide in both directions. The Limited would lake Ml hours for the run between tho Auckland and Wellington terminals, and (he ordinary expresses hi hours. Timesaving alterations were also being made in Ihe case of the New Plymouth and Napier expresses as well as (lie Wollington-Pnlmerston North local trains, and alterations to provide faster services had been arranged for Ihe various Wellington suburban lines and also on ihe Wnirarapa route
