Must Create Own News

“ALL tho news that fits we print” • is tho slogan of Earl Hayes, “editor” of the largest chain of newspapers—those journals for movie purposes only. Almost any picture which shows someone reading a newspaper, or any picture in which tho audience is shown a nowspaper, displays some of Earl Hayes’ special work.

For instance, in “Love Is News,” starring Tyrone Power, Yoretta Young and Don Ameche, much of tho background and plot is convoyed by newspapers. Since real papers cannot be used, special journals must be prepared and that is where Earl Ilayes comes in. Hayes lias a little print shop in the middle of Hollywood. There he prints nothing but newspapers for the movies. For “Love Is News,” lie created “The New York Express,” with typo and format all its own. Hayes has type formes to imitate any real paper also.
