SALVATION ARMY DISPUTE
WRITS AFTER DISMISSAL ISSUE BY THIRD PARTY (Reed. Alay 25, 11 a.m.) 'LONDON, Alay 24. Salvation Army leaders-have conferred and decided not to make an official rejoiner to the statement issued by Commissioner Henry Mapp declaring that the real reason for his dismissal from his position as Chief of Staff arose from a letter which he sent to General Evangeline Booth on March 16, in which lie requested to be allowed to retire on account of* ill-health, and in which he referred to certain matters which General Booth wished to keep secret. Commissioner Alapp adds that the writs which have been served on General Evangeline Booth and also on Commissioner Alapp’s successor, Commissioner J. McMillan, were issued by a third party and relate to matters apart from his dismissal.
The Daily Alail says the writs were issued by Miss Peggy Laurie, a 42-year-old London dressmaker, and daughter of a late Salvation Army commissioner. She has known Commissioner and Airs. Alapp all her life.
