WORLD’S RECORD CLAIM INCREASED POPULARITY REVIEW OP PAST YEAR Two testing records, one for New Zealand and one for the British Empire, are claimed for the Friesian breed in a report to be presented to the annual meeting of the Now .Zealand Friesian Association tit llaWera on Wednesday.

During the past year Totnra C. R., Buttercup, owned by the Pin Band Company, Orini, Tanpiri, finished her sixth consecutive lactation with a record of 848.181 b. Bit. This made her total lifetime viold, under oflicial test, 148,4(32.Jib. milk and 5,636.211 b. fat, easily a record for any breed in New. Zealand.

A breed average test record for the British .Umpire is claimed for Fendalt'oi'i Pansy Bosch 3rd, owned by Alcssrs. Jloyds and Williams, ..Five ,Divers, Southland, with a. production of 11,083,41 b. milk and 585.801 b. fat ami an average test of 5.31 per cent. At many of the leading Dominion live-stock shows Friesians outnumbered tiny of the other breeds, states the report, which also refers ro the fact that testing returns again showed the high standard of the breed as producers of milk and butter-fat.

First-class certificates issued last year to Friesians numbered til, and consisted of Jive 303-dav test certificates and 5(3 yearly test certificates. The average for the 303-dav cerlilicates —all of which were secured bv junior two-year-olds—was. 8608.81 b. milk and ,336.881 b. fat. The 56 yearly certificates averaged 15,530.61 b milk and 561.501 b. fat. Six secondclass and four third-class yearly certificates were also issued for records completed last. year. The total number of first-class yearly test certificates issued to Friesians by the Dairy Division since the inception of C.0.1i. testing is now 2245, the average for the certificates being J4,060.31b. milk and 408.871 b; fat, easily the best for all dairy breeds in New Zealand.
