POVERTY BAY CLUB SCOEES

NAPIER VISIT PLANNED

The Poverty Bay Golf Club's links were well patronised over the weekend, handicap tournament matches, a bogey match find a number of private fixtures being played. The handicap tournament was advanced a further stage/ results of matches in this section being:—

Greig defeated E. B. Black at the twenty-first; W. D. Morloy defeated If. TJ. Burke, 5 and .'!; E. Ross defeated F. Orr, 1 up; 0. G. Thornton defeated W. Lvsnar, at the twentyfirst; W. Keith'defeated T. Wnuehop, 5 and 4. The. bogey match played during the week-end resulted in a win for A. F. Salmon, handicap 14, who finished all square. 1. P. Bramwcll handicap nine, was one down on bogey; W. R. B. Willoelc, handicap nine, was one down; W. D. Armstrong, handicap three, D. M. Mclldowie, handicap 11, ftnd E. T. Brosnahan, handicap nine, were two down; F. Wise, handicap 22, T. Corkery, handicap eight, and G. M. Chrisp, handicap 18, were three down; and E. Ross, handicap 14, E. E. Beckett, handicap 11, C. IT. Bull, handicap 10, J. 0. Musgrave, handicap 10, and W. M. Jenkins, handicap 17, were all four down. Country Fixtures

The qualifying round for the Reynolds Cup tournament will be played next week-end, and the best 32 scores on handicap will qualify. A test round for the May Stabieford bogey will be played in conjunction with the Reynolds Gup qualifying round. Another fixture for the coming week-end will be. the qualifying round for the Dodgshun Cup tournament, in which match play will commence on June 9, the King's Birthday. The 16 best gross scores will qualify in this competition, and, the second 16 gross scores and the best 16 oh handicap, will be eligible to compete in other competitions running concurrent lv.

Jt is hoped lhat the strongest team available in the Poverty Bay club will make the trip to Napier for the forthcoming match with the Napier club, as formidable competition is to be met on the Hawke's Bay links.

COURSE RECORD LOWERED

JACK MANSFIELD'S ROUND

While taking part in the competitions on Saturday afternoon on the Gisborne Park Golf Club's course Ja*'k Mansfield, the club's green-keeper put in a gtoss 74 to capture the record for the course. It is the bogey for the course and his score included nine bogeys, three birdies, and an eagle. His card was as follows : Gnt: 5,5, ?, 5,4, 4,4, 4, 2-36; In: 5 4,4, 5,5, 4,4, 5, 2—38; total: (4. WIN FOT{ WAIROA GISBORNE PARK BEATEN" In tho inter-club match played during tho week-end between Wairoa and the Gisborno Park golf clubs the teams playing on the home links were successful In eaeh. case, but tho Wniroa team was more successful on the wholo winning the 20 games, losing 15 games, squaring one and taking the decision by live games. When the Gisborue men returned from the visit to Wniroa they were 'high in their praise for the hospitality of the Wairoa club members and found the southern course interesting after the flat Park course.
