RUATORIA SUB-BRANCH TRANSPORT DEPUTATION A meeting of the Ruatoria sub-branch of the Poverty Bay and East Coast Sheepowners' Union was held on Saturday, Mr. W. F. Metcalf presiding over an attendance of about 40 members. Tho secretary, Mr. A. J. Stock, was in attendance from Gisborne.
The proposed fixation of prices by the Carriers' Association was discussed, and the meeting decided that a deputation should wait on the Minister of Transport this week in order to secure his views on the manner in which negotiations should be carried out. The efforts of the executive in Gi»borne to obtain funds for the purpose of assisting the Cawthron Institute in securing supplies of parasites for the destruction of bidibidi and ragwort were, endorsed, and it was also agreed to secure as much finance as possible for the destruction of the variegated thistle.
The meeting endorsed the central executive's proposal that arrangements should be made for the issue of permits for movements of all stock on the roads either by day or by night.
