Swamp lands on the northern Waikato River districts, Wnngamnrtno, Mercer, Mangatawhiri and Aka Aka, are carrying extensive areas of flood water as a result of the recent rains.
The oppning road cycle race of the season, to have been conducted by the Poverty Hay Professional Athletic and Cycling Club this afternoon, was abandoned as only a few riders turned out.
