The Rev. P, M. Kohere has been appointed honorary child welfare officer for the district of Tikitiki.
Major K. L. Stewart, district stall officer in Dunedin, has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch. Mr. W. G. Adams, who has retired from the position of manager of the Ngaruawahia branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has left for the United States. Dr. 11. B. Turbott, medical officer of health at Hamilton and supervising officer for the East Cape health district, who has been visiting the East Coast area, returned to Gisborne yesterday and proceeded north to his headquarters this morning.
Passengers by East Coast Airways' planes between Gis borne and Napier yesterday included Mrs. V. Bradley; Messrs. L, Miles, 11. Miller, P. Brown, B. W. Harvey, 0. 0. Ancell, L. Caney, R. Brown, J, G. Crooks, S. Hooper, and D. Birnie. A Maoi'i War veteran and a Waikato pioneer, Mr. George Bailey, of Hamilton, celebrated his ninetieth birthdary cm Sunday. Mr. Bailey has lived in ]Hamilton for 25 years. He has five sons and four daughters, 27 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Miss Olive Ingram, of the Masterton telephone exchange, who has been spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ingram, Childers road, left for Masterton by plane during the .week-end. She, will stay a few days in Palmcrston North before resuming duty in Masterton next week.
Mr. Alex Churcher, Dominion organiser for Toe 11, is to be succeeded by Mr. Cordon Turvey, area secretary, at present stationed at Liverpool and at ojip time manager of the Oxford and Bermondsey Boys' Club. Mr. Churcher leaves New Zealand in September, and bis successor arrives at the end of August. A fast trip from Wellington to (Usborne was made yesterday by Mr. IT. G. Miller, of Wellington, managingdirector of the Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company, who left the capital at 12.H0 p.m. by private aeroplane and connected with the afternoon service 'plane at Napier for Gisborne, arriving at Darton Field at n.IW p.m. The trip from Wellington to Gisborne took three hours. Mr. came to Gisborne at the special invitation of Messrs. Bignell and Holmes for the opening yesterday of their service station.
