SEASON'S LAST SHOOT GISBORNE DEFENCE CLUB P. J. ,JEUNE CHAM PI UN During the week-end the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club conducted the final shoot ol the 1956-37 season, matches being fired at 200yds. and 500yds., 10 shots being fired twice at each range.

At 200yds., possibles were registered by T. Herivel, F. Sodersen, and l«\ JJeune. aiul the latter, with an aggregate of 99 off the rifle, won the match with Sodersen, handicap 2, as runner-up, his score also being 99. Third place wenl to T. Herivel, who registered an aggregate ol 99 from the scratch mark.

The service match at 200yds., comprising five shots at tiles in 20sec, went to T. Herivel, who recorded four bus. ■Hid Willi a handicap of five points finished with 2b. K. Sodersen was again mniiei-up, his three hits and a handicap of seven furnishing an aggregate ol Cpoints.

At 500yds. there was some fine .shooting, especially by the handicapped marksmen. T. Herivel and P. Foss. both off scratch, each scored 49 in the second 10 shot.-, at this distance, and is. Holmes just failed to equal their performance. dropping his last shot for a lour, and finishing with 48. T. Herivel, with the aid of a handicap of two in the first 10 shots, aggregated 93 for the range, and finished in lirsl place; I!. Bui-son, C. Holmes, ami T. Park also had gross scores of 98. and were placed second, third and fourth respectively on the Bisley count-back.

These matches completed tho April handicap competitions, F. J. Jeune winning the, principal award in the aperture scries with an aggregate of 193 ol .-, possible 200. T. Park, handicap 10 „nd an aggregate of 1.92. was placed second, and T. Herivel, handicap two, was third, also with 192. In the Service Handicap monthly final. T. Park, handicap 13. was placed first, with 46 out of a possible 50. K. Sodersen, handicap 12. being placed second with an aggregate of 4lv Club Championship Aggregates

With t.hese matches decided, finality was reached also in both the club championship aggregates. F. J. Jeune securing both awards with an aggregate ol 772 out of a possible 800 in the aperture series, over a total of 16 ranges, and an aggregate of 171 points in the service championship. He took the Barry Cup for the aperture championship, and the President's Cup for service shooting. A. Ford was runner-up in the first of the scries, with 754 aggregate, and was also runner-up to Jeune in the service championship, with 165. The club president, Mr. R.
