Mr. Allen, the captain of the club, said lie thought it was it good move to change over to tin one-day fixture. Outstanding subscriptions amounting to £st had vet to be collected. The tinancial position was good, hut there .was still it programme ot expenditure before the annual meeting, so that the credit woulu be approximately £35 for, the beginning of the next season.

The chairman was of the opinion that the position was quite satisfactory, but in view of the fact that there was £92 to be paid out before the end of the season, he said that all the subscriptions would be wanted.

In regard to subscriptions, Mr. Allen added that be would like members to assist, the treasurer as much as possible with their collection. Ho complimented Mr. l’aine on his work, The sundry ox penses amounted to about £9O during a season and lie appealed to members to take rare of the plant during the offseason to have it in the best shape lor the 1937-38 season.

The position in regard to plant was reviewed by the secretary, Mr. lb Coleman. and it was explained that the £4L to he expended on oats and sculls was considered necessary to purchase two pairs of tubular representative oars and live pairs of solid sculls to bring up tin stock of equipment to the desired standard. That would mean that the club would have seven sets of oars, five practice and two representative, and seven pairs of sculls and three pairs for representative sculling use. On the motion of Mr. S. W. Bruce, seconded by Mr. C. McLernon, the recommendation of the committee to expend £45 on oars and sculls was adopted. Social Committee Active

During a discussion, Mr. E. 11. Dow raised the question of purchasing an extra set ol practice oars while placing the order, it .was mentioned that the matter had been discussed fully by the committee and if was Imally ueenleb not to proceed with the purchase ol the extra set. Reporting on the work of the social committee, the chairman of that com mittee, Mr. Urine, said that the year ban neen a highly successful one and that by the end ol the season it would be possible to band over at least .£IOO to the building fund. He asked for the co-operation m all members at the dances organised by the committee. The annual dance woulu be held on Thursday, -May 27, despite the fact t tint the Wainui Reach dance on .May 8 had been abandoned.

Mr. Allen complimented the social committee on its work and thought it Highly satisfactory that the committee Had £6O in hand and it had not yet been working for 12 months. The £ICO for Unbuilding fund before the beginning ol Hie i.93i'-38 season seemed to be well in sigiit. In connection with the new building, he said it had been suggested that a. list should be placed in the clubhouse to give the present members an opportunity to assist with the fund. A coloured print would be made available soon and would be displayed in a shop in town to give all interested a chance to see what the committee had in mind. The total amount in view for the end of the present year was about £320. He mentioned that at a committee meeting prior to the general meeting it was recommended that £2O should be allocated to the building fund from the club’s funds. It was decided to make that allocation, on th motion ol Mr. R. Mahon, seconded by Mr. Bruce. Old Members’ Association

The formation of a list oT honorary members or"the inauguration of an oht members’ association was suggested by the chairman. The fee for membership would be only a nominal one.

Mr. Allen said he had spoken to several old members, who had left the club within the past 10 years, and the proposal had been considered a sound one. I'he older members could have a tew dub days during the season and a dinner, it was'decided to hold the matter in abeyance until the annual meeting of the club.

Mr. It. Million explained the workings of a similar old members’ association in Auckland and thought the suggestion a good one. It was decided on the motion of Mr. I). F. Muir, seconded by Mr. Mahon, that winter rowing he continued as during (lie past season. The captain explained that the winter boat would have to be overhauled before it was taken out.

The dangerous condition of the staging was pointed out. by the captain, and a programme of the renewal ol about. 2011. was outlined
