RESCUE IX OPOTIKI Prompt action by Mr, W. If. Jenkiiison. Auckland, saved the life of i small Maori hoy who fell off the Opotiki wharf while fishing with his ha by brother. Mr. Jeiikiuson was strolling down the wharf when the child fell into the water, and he was not aware of the mishap until he noticed a head appear above the surface of the water about L’tiyds. out. Being tin* only person on the wharf at the time, lie jumped without hesitation into the cold water fully clothed and swam to the boy, who was being quirklv carried away bv tile outgoing tide. 'flip child, who was between three and four years of age, was little the wfirse when brought ashore.
