Sir Apirana Ngata. M.L\ for the F.astern' .Maori district, was a visitor to Gisborne to-day. Mr. E. 1.. Walton. S.M., left Gisborne to-day for Wniroa to attend a specialsitting of the Magistrate's Court. Passengers by East Coast Airways' planes bet-ween Gisborne and Napier yesterday included :—Misses C Yates and R. King; .Messrs. .1. Ellis, .1. King. C. B. Cox, I*. Crispen. A. Champion. I'. .1 Martin. A. Pitts, and \Y. G. Mclmtoe. The directors of the United Press Association in Wellington yesterday dteided to appoint Mr. T. M. Hinkley. at present manager of the Sydney branch, to the position of manager at the head office, in New Zealand. Mr. A. R. Cameron, of the head office, was appointed to succeed Mr. Hinkley in Sydney.—P.A. Mr. W. A. Reid, chairman of the Whnkalanc County Council, lias intimated his intention of retiring after 2(5 years' service. Councillors expressed their appreciation of Air. Roid's long service and suggested that as they had only one more year to complete their term lie should remain in the chair for that period to guide them. Mr. Reid consented to think over the matter,
