SELF-SUFFICIENCY AIM There is considerable interest in tho growing of wheat in Sweden, according to Mr." .s. Abdiun'. a Swedish cereal research chemist, who has arrived in Wellington from Sydney. The fact lh.it New Zealand was endeavouring to grow enough wheat lo supply her own require: ■ iienls made him particularly interested in the country, Mr. Abdam said, and he hoped lo meet research workers interested i]i wheat during his yisif. Wheat was grown in Sweden, and a considertililp amoiiiit of research work was being undertaken to get the right, type of grain for the expansion of the industry, lie had been for si>- months in the Apslralian wheat-growing districts, and intended lo spend practically the whole 1 of bis lime in New Zealand in Canterbury.
