Miss MacDonald's Intentions

ALTHOUGH these two weddings ifid not prompt the decision. Jeanetto MacDonnld has announced that she intends to have a church wedding when she and Gene Raymond are nuir•ied, and that the date has been set far enough ahead (in Juno) to permit fm- all preparations. !l was only a few mouths ago that In- elopements were coming fast and furiously. .lack Oakie married Vanita Vardcn on n train, and Allan .Lines and Irene llervey tool; a plane to Yuma. They were followed closely by Jean Chat burn and her business agent, Frank Orsatii. Prod MacMurray and Lillian Laniont eloped, and .loan lilondcll married Dick Powell on board a ship in port. For a brief time there was a feeling that couples would follow the example of Randolph Scott and Mariana Dupont-Siiminerville, in keeping their marriage secret for several months,

and especially so when Ilarpo Mars and 'Susan Fleming made the announcement of their marriage four months after it occurred.

Whatever may have seemed the "fashion" for Hollywood weddings a few months ago, the fact remains that Hollywood to-day is in the midst of a trend towards beautiful, formal church weddings.
