FAREWELL DANCE MR. AND MRS. BULLARD HONOURED (Herald. Correspondent.) Prior to their departure from Buatoria for Tolaga Bay. Mr. and Airs. B. Bullard were the guests of honour at a very happv farewell danee held in the Gaiety Hall. During the evening Mr. A. J. H. Ivirkham spoke of the capable manner in which Mr. Bullard had carried out his duties as postmaster during the past eight years and of the high esteem in which he had been held by (be citizens of Buatoria. and the surrounding districts. Mr. 1. S. C. Dalgnirns endorsed Mr. Kirkham’s remarks, and on behalf of those, present handed .Mr. Bullard a handsome cheque. On behalf of the Women’s Institute, Mrs. It. 11. Wiekstced. president of the institute, in a charming speech referred to the loss which would be felt bv the absence of Airs. Bullard, who bad been their vice-president, mid asked Airs. Bullard to accept a. cheque with the good wishes of all members. Mrs. K. Milner, on behalf of the Maori Women’s Institute, presented Airs Bullard with some specimens of .Maori handcraft. . Mr. and Mrs. Bullard briefly tendered their thanks and spoke of their regret at having to leave Buatoria with its happy associations. A break was made in the dance programme whilst .Miss Brenda Ludbrook contributed two humorous recitations, which wore warmly applauded. Mr. A. J. H. Kirkham’s humorous stories were the cause of much merriment, and added to the fun of the evening. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of a willing Indies’ committee. Air. A. D. Littlejohn acted as M.G. Great credit was due to Alcsdames S'. W. Windsor and A. D. Littlejohn for organising such a successful function on very short notice.

Holmes, who has been spending some weeks with her daughter, Mrs 13. Evans, Wairongomai, has left for Gisborne, where she intends spending a few days prior to journeying to Wellington to meet her younger daughter, Mrs. W. B. Miven, who is en route from England. Mr. J. 0. Openshaw has resigned from the stall' of the Gisborne Sheepfarmcvs’ Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company and accepted an appointment with the P. and T. Department.
