Bryson forming’the- rest of the committee. A fair amount of correspondence was dealt with. Members regretted that they were limlMe'. loVaccepi. The annual repoitf) and balance sheet showed a very satisfactory position. When moving the adoption ol the report and balance - sheet, Airs. Alazengarjj congratulated the secretary oil the vej-J" clear and correct way she had prepared them, and called on the members to show, their appreciation in a suitable manner, The report and balance sheet were passed unanimously. After a delicious home-made afternoon tea l)gd been partaken of, Sister May Gardiner-addressed the meeting and gave many helpful suggestions for the improvement of the institute as a whole. Her talk was greatly enjoyed by the members! who were sorry that the time did not allow of a longer peViod for this portion : of " the programme; Mrs. W. A. McCliskie also gave a few very helpful hints on institute affairs. Votes of thanks were passed to the following -.-—To Sister May Gardiner and Mrs." McCliskie, for being present at Hie meeting; to Mr. W. Jones and Air. 1.. Newman for. services rendered: to Mrs. \V. Jones and Airs. Mazengarb for substituting when the president ami secretary were absent; and the retiring committee. Special mention was made of the retirin'' president. Alls, j.j./jrajiain. and secretary, Mrs. -I. L. Graham. Mrs. J. Gillgreu. after a few happy words, presented Mrs. J. 1,. Graham with a Victorian posy as a, small token of the institute’s appreciation. In reply, Mrs. Graham said how much she had appreciated working with the members and that she regretted that owing to force of circumstances she had had to resign from the committee. She wished the new committee every success and thanked the members for their kindly thoughts of her.
Opportunity was taken to bill farewell mul “bon voyage” to -Mrs. \\ . Jones, who leaves lor England at an early date. Mrs. Jones suitably replied. Mrs. 1,. Newman gave a very interesting demonstration on bow to preserve apples. wi,t,h.sulphur and a. vote of thanks to her was called for by Mrs. Jones.
The 'competitions for the day were: I’ot of apple jelly.—Miss P. Jones. 1: Mrs. .V. Greaves, Mrs. J. C. Mazengarb and Mrs. Dunn, equal, 2. Homemade gjoves.—Mrs. Greaves, 1; Mrs. J. G. Ma/.engarb, 2. The. meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
