RINK COMPETITION CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS POVERTY BAY’S SUCCESS The Poverty Bay rink' comprising D. ■I. Duncan, A. Wood, A. Slight and S. McKenzie (s). ran out the winners of the Gisborne and East Coast Bowling Centre’s rink championship on Saturday. It was somewhat of a surprise when in the first round the Poverty Bay rink lost their game with Te Karaka by 16 to 19. However, the Poverty Bay rink made up for their initial setback by winning their next two games. At the conclusion of the third round Gisborne and Poverty Bay teams bad bad two wins each, and in the play-oil' the Poverty Bay team, in excellent form, took the lead from the start, winning by. 34 to 17.

Perhaps the keenest of all the matches played during the afternoon was in the third round, between Poverty Bay and Kahutia. After very even play the score stood at 17-all on the twentieth head. Poverty Bay clinched the match by adding a three to their score. The concluding results of the day's play were as under:—Second round.—Kahutia 23 v. Te Karaka 15 ; Poverty Bav £U v. Gisborne 15. Third round.—Poverty Bay 20 v. Kahutia 17- Gisborne 23 v. Te Karaka 10. Final.—Poverty Bav 34 v. Gisborne 17. '

KAHUTIA CLUB PROGRESSIVE PAIRS During the week-end a Progressivi Pairs tournament was held on tin Kahutia Bowling Club’s greens. Tin weather was overcast in the morning but became sunny in the afternoon. Among the many spectators were : number of South Auckland visitors who took a keen interest in tin pavilion and surroundings at the idol grounds.

Afternoon tea was served tinder tlm supervision of Mr. R. Campbell, wliih the score-board was attended to bv Mr. B. Dm! field. Mr. F. Wiggim carried out the duties of timekeeper. In the skips’ section a tie resulted and Roderick and Somervell divide the prize. A similar conclusion win arrived at in the leads’ section, and in this ease the prize was divided between O’Brien and Dower.
