Aurics .Star won I lie Onkleigh Flute at CaullieSd by live lengths and broke llie Australasian record by a quarter of a second. Aurics Star demoralised the field. He is described as one of the fastest horses ever seen on a -Melbourne course.
Golden Promise, who lias regained his best form, won the Bond Handicap, making amends for his failures in important races in the spring and summer. Viceroy was a close third. Upoko Ariki, who was much fancied, could do no better than fourth.
Cuddle was beaten out of a place in the St. George Stakes, In this event, nothing had a chance wit ii Young Idea in Lite run home and .he won easily by live lengths from Hostile, who was disqualified for losing a lend bug.
Results were: Federal Stakes. —Ajax, 8.5 (MeCarten), 1; Sweet Memories, 9.U (Dewhurst), 2; Lochllee, 9.8 (Badger), 2. Twenty started. Won by one and aqunrtcr lengths and half a head. Time, 59} —a course record. Bond Handicap. —Golden Promise, 9.5 (Skidmore), 1; Benthos, 7.7 (Si almonds), 2; Viceroy, 7.S (W. Cook), 8.
Fifteen started, including Upoko Ariki. Time, 2.17}. s Onkleigh Plate. —-Aurics Star, 8.4 (Elliot), 1; Beechwood, 8.11 (Badger), 2; Phenomenon, .5.2 (Bastiuu), 8. All fourteen started. Hadrian set (lie pace for the first furlong, when Auries Star took command and cleared right uwav when heads were turned for home and won by five lengths with a neck between second and third. Master Motley was fourth and Regular Bachelor fifth. Then came Great Legend. Time, 1.11 —an Australasian record.
St. George Stakes.—Voting Idea, 9,10 (Munro), 1; Plymouth Sound, 9.12 (Webster), 2; Prince Quex. S.IB (O’Brien), 8. Other starters were Cuddle, Hostile, Prince Sion, Conandale. Peerage and Humorist. Cuddle was in the lend at the home turn, where Young Idea took charge, closely followed by Plymouth Sound ami Hostile. Young Idea won by half a length from Hostile, w.ho was disqualitied for losing a lead bag a lew yards from the winning post. Plymouth Sound, who was a head away, was placed second. Prince A uex was third. Time, 1.50}. Cuddle was ridden by McCartcn, owing to L. Ellis’ eye injury. * Cheque was unplaced in the Salisbury Welter Handicap.
Barnum was unplaced in the Warrein Hurdles.

.COUNTRY PARTY’S WEIGHT
MELBOURNE, Feb. 14
Differences of opinion as to whether Country Party was a maiden and entitled to allowances, reducing his weight, from 7.10 to 7.0 in the Futurity .Stakes next Saturday, were settled yesterday when the committee of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club decided that the horse was eligible to start at 7.10. Should Country Party not, win, the owner will be entitled to appear or protest to the Victorian Racing Club, but the objection will not be sustained.
CANTERBURY PARK RACES NEW ZEALANDERS FAIL SYDNEY, Fob. 11. At the Canterbury Park races on Saturday, Sturdee was third in the first division of the Maiden Handicap. Fantan was unplaced in the second division. Odilion was fourth in the Maiden Handicap. Silver Coat was unplaced in the llighweighp Handicap. Limoux was unplaced in the Ashbury Handicap.
LYNCH LAW GOES LAME MELBOURNE, Feb. 14. The unbranten Sydney two-year-old. Lynch Law. may have to lie thrown out of work owing to a severe jar to one of his lon-joints. There is considerable swelling and a rest is essential. The trainer, Jamieson, is much perturbed and is taking no risks with the champion.
