The mining scheme inaugurated bv tin* Government in 1951. was, to the end of last year, productive of 35080 z. of gold, valued at £23,800, states a speciallyprepared report on the Thames district. This amount was exclusive of about £6OOO won by men who were at. lirst working oil the scheme, but who, by reason of good discoveries, were enabled to carry on without assistance.
