COMICS PREFERRED DISAPPROVAL OF LOVE LONDON, I .pc. 10. “Minder with a touch of love” is the. ideal “fd.ni fare” of a Chorley Wood Grammar School boy. He is one of lf>o boys who were invited by the headmaster of -the school to give their views on their favourite film entertainment.
Comic films were preferred by 55 boys and murder and crime films by 49 boys. Eighteen boys expressed a preference for “thrillers,” and 14 for historical films. Films with n “love interest” earned the disapproval of 100 boys, and 2S admitted to a dislike of “gangster lilms. ’ ’
Ginger lingers was their favourite actress and Shirley Temple was “run-ner-up.” Next in preference were Gracie Fields and Jessie Matthews.
Their favourite actors were, first. Laurel and Hardy, and then Clark Gable and George Arliss. Eighty-one boys said that they went to the cinema regularly once a week, and .19 went twice a week.
