Y.M.C.A. ACTIVITIES
BOYS' DIVISION STARTS Now that the ban on juvenile meetings has been lifted the Y.M.C.A. junior groups shortly will commence their activities for 1937. Last year there was a record attendance in the Boys' Division and it is anticipated that this will be eclipsed this year. The senior boys' division will hold their first meeting on March ;), and the junior division will meet the following evening.
The gymnasium classes were held ri<rht i.'.io November last year and already the gymnasts have held one display this year, in Opotiki, and tho enthusiasm of the; pupils has in no way abated. The regular sessions \vill not commence until after Easter.
... The secretary is engaged on a plan to increase the number of the association 's sustaining subscribers. Tho Y.M.O.A;, in common, with,other organisations, has passed through the most strenuous period of its existence and even yet the directors are wondering if it will be possible to maintain the association's present service to the youth of the community' without <
further revenue. It is hoped that with improving conditions those who havo received service from the association and those who appreciate the work that is being done will come to the organisation's assistance. '
