OPPOSITION BY LABOUR
FEDERAL REFERENDA
SUSPICION OF POWERS
SYDNEY, Feb. 11
The Federal Labour leader, Mr. J. Beasley, to-night supported Mr. J. T. Lang's "No" campaign against the marketing and aviation referenda, which the Labour Party in this State is opposing.
Mr. Beasley's chief point was that the Government wanted further powers to set up an economic dictatorship over Australian industries and enable Dr. Earlc Page, leader of the Country Party, to carry out a rationalisation plan which would fulfil its obligation to British financial interests.
