SETTLEMENT REACHED CASE ENDS SUDDENLY CPer Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Before evidence for the defendant had been completed, a settlement was ariuo.uri.ccd in Hie Supreme Court today of the ease in which Muriel Jossio Bollard claimed from .lames Ilealy, a civil servant, £l7">o damages for injuries received when the cars which 'plaintiff and del'endanl were driving came into collision near Pnrrtparanmii on October 2". Upon the application of Mr. Mazengdrb, for plaintiff, and, with the consent of Mr. Stephenson, who appeared with Mr. O'Lcary, K.C., for defendant, Mr. Justice Smith entered judgment for plaintiff for COLM, being £450 general damages and C 174, the amount of special damages claimed. Mr. Mazengarb said that defendant had acted the part of the gentleman at the scene of the accident ami through his solicitors, he now agreed to a settlement which, in view of the splendid recovery plaintiff had made, she was willing to accept.
