For the opening of the Egmont Racing Club's summer meeting, bright sunshine followed heavy rain in the early morning, 'there was a large attendance and splendid going. 'the totalisator handled SMG.CM against .C 10,392 last year. In the cup race, won by Taitoru. the early leaders were Duiigarvan, One vvhctu, and Taitoru. but, passing the stands, Taitoru had charge irom Master Cyklon. Duiigarvan (pulling hard), Onewhet u and Lowenberg. li.unning down Ihe back stretch, Taitoru and .Master Cyklon were leading Duiigarvan with Unewhetu and Lowenberg in a handy position and the remainder all close up. Crossing the lop there was little change in the order, but the pace was clapped on and the leaders drew away slightly. However, they were not. allowed to get far, for the 'others began to move up smartly. Taitoru and Master Cyklon enteral the straight on terms, closely attended by Onewhelu. Duiigarvan and Lowenberg. Halfway down the straight, Master Cyklon retired, leaving Taitoru and Onewhetit to fight out the issue for the former to .score impressively by halt a length in a great duel.
