Daring the weck-<md the northern stations played n cricket matcli against the southern stations in a field ni Makarika loaned by Mr. A. .1. 11. Kirkham for tlic occasion. The weather was perfect and a most enjoyable day >vas t;penl by both players and spectators. The southern players won the match: A picnic lunch was enjoyed under the trees and a delicious afternoon tea was served by the ladies. It is hoped a return match will be played in about a fortnight.

Matthews, Waipiro Hay. accompanied by her two children, has motored through to Hastings to stay with relations. —Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Thompson and Miss M. Thompson have, gone to Taupo for a fortnight's holiday. -Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Tripe. Hastings, and Miss Nancy Cotterill, Gisborne, were recent guest's of Mrs. G. E. Cotterill.— Mr. A. Wiiliams and his daughter Faulkner, have returned In To Aute after spending a few days as the guests of Mrs. T. S. Williams. Kaharau, Ruatoria. —Mrs. A. V. S. Reed and her two daughters have returned to Hawke's Bav.
