OVER 1000 TRAINED
FLOCK HOUSE RECORD STATE TAKES CONTROL (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. "If Flock House proves its value as. an agricultural training centre, as I have the utmost confidence it will do, it may mean that further institutions of a similar nature will have to be established. That, however, is for future consideration, but it does emphasise the necessity of proceeding upon sound lines, so that the experience gained may be turned to the best advantage in the meeting of the national needs in connection with primary production."
This statement was made by the Hon. VV. Lee .Martin, Minister of Agriculture, at a ceremony at Flock House station, near Lulls, yesterday, when the estate was formally handed over to the Government, wliich recently acquired it from the Flock House fund trustees.
"We have trained and placed in employment on farms and stations nearly 1050 young people, in addition to 45 still in residence at Flock House, and all of these young people look back on their months at Flock House as among the happiest of their lives and very many of them as the start of a prosperous career," stated Mr. T. R. Lees, the managing! trustee. "Over 700 of these young people are our own wards who can still look to tho trustees for help and advice as long as the fund is in existence. Further, we are handing over to the Crown a very fine fanning property which we have greatly improved and developed on sound lines, and which is capable of still gireater development."
