DISSATISFACTION VOICED
PRICES KEPT SECRET CONTRACTS 13V STATE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Dissatisfaction with the practice of the Government Stores Control Board in not disclosing to unsuccessful tenderers the prices of the successful tenders was expressed by the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce yesterday. The secretary of the Stores Control Board wrote stating that in view of the favourable prices quoted by tenderers, who stipulated that their prices must be treated as confidential the board was firmly of the opinion that it would not be in the interests of the Dominion to disclose particulars of prices paid for stores.
The meeting expressed the view that it was in the public interest that such prices should be made available. The public was entitled to know how its money was being spent. It was resolved that "the Minister of Public Works be written to on the suoiect.
