ADVICE TO A MOTHER

"I am not decrying what has been described as the Victorian method oi parental control, but remember vr& are living in 1936.'"
, This remark was mado yesterday by Mr. W. G. Davie, chairman oi; the East' Ham Juvenile Court, to the mother of a boy of 16, who was bound over for a year for stealing a bicycle. Mr. Davio added: "This is probably tho first time we ba'vo had to say that to a parent. It is generally the other way." At a previous hearing it was stated that the youth ran away from home on September 22 after a quarrel with
his mother because he had to be home at nine o'clock on Sunday nights and 9.30 on Saturdays.
Having examined what were described as excellent reports on the boy's character, Mr. Davie said In tho mother: "Ho is nut a child by any means. Do not forget you should make exceptions when ho wants to fro to the pictures occasionally, just as you do when he goes to a church social."
