The Daily Telegraph says that the Royal and Ancient shortly is banning the heavy niblick nicknamed the ) ‘sandwedge blaster” or “Howitzer,” which was invented in America and is popular with all golfers because it enables extraordinary recoveries from bunkers and the rough without much skill or effort, It is understood that the Royal and Ancient is aiming at the preventing ot “buying a shot over the counter,” and will suecify that any club is illegal with a sole thicker than half an inch or a front edge not flush with the ground.
