CORONATION STAMPS

COLONIAL ISSUES APPROVAL OF DESIGN (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a .an. RUGBY, Jan. 19. Arrangements have been approved by the King for a special Coronation issue of stamps to consist of three denominations in one common design in each of the colonial dependencies. Similar arrangements are also being made for Newfoundland issues to be on sale from Mav 12 to December 31.

It is not anticipated that the new permanent colonial issues will be ready before the end of the Year. The stamps will be of the same-shape and size as the Silver Jubilee issue and wifi be printed in single colours. The design of the stamps includes a portrait of both the King and Queen in a setting of Coronation emblems, including the crown, the orb, the sword of state, and sceptres. The date of the Coronation is Inscribed at the top of the design, and the name of the issuing territory appears at the base with the dutv labels in the lower comers.
