The King has made the following appointments to colonial governorships : Sir Andrew Caldecott, Governor of Hongkong'. to he Governor and Commanderin Chief of Ceylon, succeeding Sir Reginald SI ulibs on his retirement from the service at the end of September; Sir Geoffrey Stafford Noitheote, Governor of British Guiana, to he Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Hongkong; Mr. Henry Bradshaw Popham, Administrator of Dominica, to lie Governor and Com-mander-in-rhio! of Windward Islands, succeeding Sir Selwyn Grier, who is shortly retiring.

His Majesty lias also ‘approved tlu appointment ol Mr. John llatliorn Hall, (lie Chief Secretary of Palestine, to hi British Resident- for the Zanzibar Protectorate. succeeding Sir Richard Ilanbine, who is shortly retiring.
