TO PENETRATE ARMOUR OTTAWA, Oct. 31. A definite effort was being inadi to perfect a rifle capable of discharging a bullet that would penetrate armor plate, Lieut.-Col. G. It. Pearkes, director of military .training, Depart, incut of National Defence, last night told the headquarters rifle association here. “There is no doubt,” lie said “armies of the future will be equip ped with armored tanks, ar.d the rifle of the future will be capable of penetrating that armor.”
