The funeral of the late Mr. Thomas Nelson, who died at the Wairoa Hospital a few days ago. took place at- the Wairoa Cemetery on Monday afternoon, the services, al St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and at the graveside, being taken bv the Rev. Rernard Teague. in the unavoidable absence of the Rev. \. 11. Finch. The pall-bearers were Messrs. .!. Smyth, I). Nelson, .1. Clark, .1. Smith. Fitzsinnnons and 'J. Hoggs. Many beautiful wreaths were sent., testifying to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
The Druids held a picnic at Opoutama on Sunday, about 150 attending, and though the weather was overcast no rain fell and an enjoyable time was spent. Fishing was the chief pastime, but the catches were not outstanding.

F, Ha ugh fun, who entered the Napier Hospital some days ago, has successfully undergone an operation for eve trouble.— Owing to his continued ill-health, Mr. V. R. Winter litis resigned his seat on the Wairoa Borough Council. — Dr. John Ross is confined to his home through illness. —Mr, A. Christie, Hastings, was a visitor to Wairoa this week.
