New Jersey, states that Ellis Parker, the New Jersey detective, surrendered yesterday under bench warrants to the Federal authorities. No specific charge was divulged at the arraignment. The father was released on hail at TSOGO and the son at £2COO. A message dispatched from New York on April '25 stated that'the Lindbergh case had produced a sequel with the indictment of four men for kidnapping Paul Wendel. whose “confession" of murdering the Lindbergh baby gained Bruno Hauptmann three days’ reprieve from dqath. One of those indicted was Ellis Parker. jun.. son of a famous New Jersey detective whom the Governor of New Jersey, l\lr. 11. O. Hoffman, employed iji an attempt To prove Hauptmann innocent. According to the charge, Parker and Ids accomplices assaulted Wendel in New York and held him prisoner | while he was transported to New Jersey. The case developed in a startling fashion when Ellis Parker, jun., eluded the police. IJo was alleged to be determined to avoid indictment on the kidnapping charge. New .Jersey officials curtly ordered Ellis Parker to arrest his son on sight.
