Mr. ,T. N. Peart, headmaster of King's College, Auckland, accompanied by Mrs. Poait, were visitors to Gisborne yes terday. Mr. and Mrs. 11. N. Milner, Wellington, arrive in Gisborne to-morrow afternoon from Thames. They will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. ,1. 0. Hardy over the week-end. Mr. Milner is the repiesentative for New Zealand of the Siidm United Mission.
After spending several weeks in New Zealand, during which time she visited Rotorua as the guest of the C.overnntert, Qiieen Salote of Tonga, aecomnatied by the Prince Consort, Prinec Tuigi, and party, will leave by the Mama today on her return to the Islands.
Judge John Harvey, of the Native Laid Court bench, ts visiting Gisborne in connection with the hearing of applications in respect of trust accounts. Diring Ids' visit he is dealing also with the settlement of the Molinka naiive lands, with which he was closely associated during his occupancy of the poit of registrar of the Native Land Cant, at Gisborne. Hiss M. Hooton, who for some time luw been in charge of the girls’ physical initruction and games at the Gisborne Hgb School, forwarded her resignation to last evenfng’s meeting of the Board of Governors. On the motion of Mr. H E. Bright, it was decided to accept Mss llooton’s resignation with regret, aid the secretary was instructed to toward a letter expressing the board’s appreciation of the excellent service Miss Iboton had rendered to the school, the ciairman declaring that her place would b> a difficult one to fill,
