FLYING BOATS
SINGAPORE PREPARES LONDON, Aug. 20. A special seaplane channel is being provided which will enable the new Empire living-boats to alight in Singapore Harbour and taxi across the water to the slipway and hangars. . Tenders have been invited for' the reinforced concrete piling which will be necessary for anchorage and approach channel. This channel will be about a mile long, being clearly marked and protected by booms, and being kept quite clear of junks and other small native craft. The authorities have been considering the problems that are presented for dying-boat arrivals and departures, by the exceptionally busy traffic of Singapore Harbour. * Plans have been worked nut which will, it is believed, .solve these problems satisfactorily. Rapid progress has been made rt the construction of the seaplane slipways and hangars. When work has: been finished on the new Singapore airport early next, year it is proposed to celebrate the completion of tins scheme by organising an air race lav tween Singapore and London.
