TRIALS OF NEW LINER
CITY OF BENARES SERVICE TO INDIA (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. RUGBY', Oct, 20. The new liner City of Benares, which was specially built for the. joint service of the City and Hall Lines between the United Kingdom and India, has made the passage from the Clyde to the Mersey. She was well tested in weather which at times rose to gale force. The City of Benares is a two-funnelled coal burner, and has combined accommodation for a limited number of passengers and a considerable amount of cargo. The facilities provided for passengers, of whom 250 will be catered for, include an open swimming bath.
