FREEZING CHARGES
DOMINION INDUSTRY QUESTION IN THE HOUSE (Per Preßß Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. In reply to a question in the House by Mr. T. D. Burnett (Nat., Temuka) about freezing works rates and to a suggestion (that "the matter of freezing charges should be investigated, Hie .Minister of Agriculture, the, Hon. W. Lee Martin, said that, in connection with meat matters, he was naturally guided largely on technical lines by the Meat Board, an accredited organisation specially designed and constituted to safeguard the interests of the meat industry both from the producer and the national standpoints. “I am in close consultation with that board at the present time in connection with freezing rates, and other matters,”' said tho Minister,- “and, if it is found advantageous both to the Government and for tho better functioning of the board that a. special investigation, covering the various points enumerated, should be undertaken, the question as to whether the assistance of the ExecUtive Commission of Agriculture with" its excellent machinery for securing evidence should be taken advantage of will be given due consideration.”
