ANTICS OF FASCISTS
CENSURE BY MINISTER METHODS REPUGNANT DISPLAYS IN LONDON (Elec. Tel. Copyiight—United Press Assn.) (Eecd. Oct. 8, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 7. Sir John Simon, the Home Secretary, speaking at, Cleckheaton in reference to the Fascist demonstration last Sunday, said the existing law did not- empower the Home Secretary to ban demonstrations in advance. He would remind critics that an alteration in the law in order to provide power would apply all round to demonstrations, Left as weil as Right. "The antics and language of these uniformed Fascists undobu'tedly are most provocative," he continued. "I dislike this dressing up in fancy uniforms and this aping of a military organisation for political purposes. I believe that these methods are repugnant to ordinary people and consider "the. Fascist doctrine as un-English and as unwanted as the Communist, but it is the duty of the authorities to maintain freedom of meeting and speech."
