WESTFIELD YARDING EASING IN BEEF PRICES RATES FOR EWES ADVANCE 4 (Per Proas Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Although quoted on a par with the values of the past six weeks, there was an easing tendency in beef at Westfield to-day, and this in spite of a shorter yarding and generally excellent quality. Extra choice ox sold to 56s per 1001 b; choice and prime. 50s to 555; secondary and plain 25s to 31s; prime cow and hbifer, 30s to 35s ; ordinary, 21s to 325. Extra heavy steers made £l3 10s to £ls 10s- heavy, £l2 10s to £l4 17s 6d; lighter, £l*l 10s to £l3 12s 6d; light, CIO to £l2 12s 6d; small and unfinished, £4 10s to £10; extra heavy prime cows and heifers. £9 7s 6d to £ls ss, the best since September, 1928; heavy, £8 to CIO ss; lighter. £5 to £8 10s; other (tillable. £2 to £5.

In the calf, pens the quality improved and a steady demand produced firm quotations. Light vealers showed a recovery of 4s of the decline of the previous sale. There was little change in values at Addington to-day except in the fat cattle and spring lamb sections and in some classes of store sheep. Cattle improved as a result of the short entry and wether noggets declined because of over supply. ,Spring! lambs were also in excess of numbers and these eased by 2s a head. FRANKTON STOCK SALE FIRM DEMAND FOR BEEF Fat sheep were penned in smaller numbers at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday. A good yarding of hoggets sold at rates slightly lower than (hose ruling last week. There was again a. fnil yarding of ox beef, including a good proportion of finished quality. Competition was keen and prices firm. Cow and heifer beef was again in good supply, with a large proportion of finished cattle. The demand was not as- brisk as at recent sales, however, and prices showed an easing tendency. Second quality lines bowed little variation. ' HASTINGS SALE FAT CATTLE STEADY Values for fat cattle were steady at the Hastings stock sale yesterday, when there was a. yarding of 200 fat cattle, indueling a number of attractively finished lines. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was keen. Prime heavy bullocks sold from £l2 to £l3. with others down to £7 15.«. Cows sold from'£7 7s 6d to £9 Is. and heifers to £9 7s 6d. A champion Large White pedigree boar is to be offered for sale at the Matawhero saleyards to-morrow by the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, on account of Mr. I!. C. barker, llangaroa. The boar is Waione Master Monte, who lias won championships and several first prizes at New Zealand shows.
