MANUKAD BY-ELECTION . .POLLING PROCEEDING (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Bedecked in red, white and blue, the colours of the National Parly, anil plain red,"tho Labour Party’s colours, scores of motor ears arc racing about tho Manukan electorate to-day taking voters to tho booths. The activity everywhere indicates that intense interest is jbeing taken in the result of the by-election. Tho candidates, Mr. A. <L Osborne, Labour, and Mr. F. W. Doidgc, National, are making periodical tours of tho electorate. Both show surprising virility and activity after the strenuous campaign. At the general election last November 13,384 electors voted, Mr. W. J. Jordan receiving 9345 votes, Mr. IT. J. Wiley (National Government) 2943, and Mr, H. Thomlcy (Democrat) 1020. Mr. Jordan’s clear majority over his opponents was thus 5382. In the 1931 election Mr. .Jordan bad a. majority of 3394 votes over Mr S'. Rickards (Coalition Reform), the total votes cast being 11.408.
