Captain S. S. liaise was the first to arrive at Cairo. Flying-Officer A. F. Clouston. (lie New Zealander, was second and Mr. Ken Waller was third. News of others was that. Flight-Lieut. Rose had arrived at Athens, FlyingOfficer D. Llewellyn had left Salonika for Athens, Mr. C." W. A. Scott had left Salonika for Cairo. Flying-Officer Clouston slopped at Cairo only 20 minutes, compared with 37 minutes spent by Captain Halse, thus virtually reducing Captain Halse’s lead to a mere 9j minutes, taking into account, the difference in the time of starting from Portsmouth. Captain Halse arrived at Cairo at 7.10 p.m., British standard time, and departed at 7.47. Flying-Officer Clouston arrived at 7.39 and departed at 8.2. Mr. Waller arrived at 8.9 and departed at 8.47. Mr. Scott arrived at 11.14 and departed at 11.34.
Flying-Officer Llewellyn arrived nt 11.18 and departed at. 11.36. Flight-Lieut. Roso was delayed at Athens owing to petrol trouble. He took off after repairs, bub smashed the undercarriage of his plane when landing at Cairo, and is now out of the race.
