TEACHER FAREWELLED

GISBORNE SCHOOL

The staff of the Gisborne Central School yesterday farwelled one of their aumcer, Mr. A. H. Wright, who left last night for his n,ew appointment at Puketitiri. , The headmaster, Mr. J. E. Shimmm, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr. Wright with a hand-painted bowl. Mr. Shimmin referred to the full life Mr. Wright had led during bis residence in Gisborne, being an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Lodge, as well as taking a keen, interest in football, cricket and military affairs. At the school lie had had a particularly busy time, too. On behalf of the parents and staff, Mr. Sliiuuhin thanked. Mr. Wright for what he had accomplished. The, country district to which Mr. Wright had been appointed undoubtedly would benefit by the transfer.

Mr. Wright suitably replied. Later in the day the children of his class, Std. V, also farewelled their teacher, Barry Shaw, on behalf of his schoolmates, presenting Mr. Wright with a cut-glass sweet dish.
