MAORI WEDDING
TE K All IK A—TE AHO (llertlld (.'orrespondi'Ml.) The Kahuiigmiu settlement, on tin route of the East Coast railway, was the scene of a very pretty wedding last Saturday, Ihe contracting parties being Miss Bella Te Aho and Mr. Edward le Kahika, both of Kahungunu. The Rev. Hemi lluala performed the ceremony on tile village marae in the presence of practically the whole population of Kalnuijgunu, Raupunga, Mohaka and Waihua, besides a number of wellwishing Europeans. The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr. Ruku Ilamana, was dressed in white satin, with a beautiful floral veil, and carried a bouquet of arum lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses Beauty Tumataroa. and Frances Nehimia. The (lower girls were Misses Myra Te Kahika and Mokopuna Karina, all suitably attired. The bride’s brother was best man, arid the ceremony was conducted in the Maori language. The wedding breakfast was partaken of in the Kahungunu Hall, the decorations being admirable. A dance finished up a very happy ceremony.
