HOSPITAL CONTROL
AUCKLAND DIRECTOR OFFER OF £ISOO A YEAR (Pov Press Association.) AUCKLAND., last night. The appointment. of a director to have complete control of all the activities of the Auckland Hospital, except medical and nursing, at a salary of £I2OO a year was decided upon by the Hospital Board at a special meeting to-day. The decision was made on the casting vote of the chairman, the Eev. W. G. Wood, who had suggested the appointment, in view of the recommendations concerning the administration of the hospital contained in a special report by Mr. G. Grey Campbell, public accountant, and discussed at a scries of special meetings recently. In suggesting that a director be appointed at a salary of £I2OO a year, rising to £ISOO at the rate of iilOO, and that the position should be advertised throughout New Zealand and different Htatcs of Australia, the chairman quoted from Mr. Campbell's report, referring to statements that tho organisation of the hospital had suffered from lack of co-ordination .a administration, and that it was essential that the board should delcgato power and responsibility to a competent executive officer to carry out the policy of the board and be entirely responsible for its administration.
