MYRTLEWOOD EQUALS RECORD

America's fastest mare is Myrtlewood. At Washington Park. Chicago, las! month she carried 8.6 in the Lakeside Handicap, and, in recording a very easy victory, did the mile in 1.35 3-5. She ran the first six furlongs in 1.9 4-5 and was then eased right up. Her time equalled the previous best for a mare in America, and, in the opinion of many of the experts, she could have done 1.35. Myrtlewood has run in 17 races for 10 wins, four seconds and two thirds, only once missing a place. Her earnings total £5962.
