NAPIER, this day. > The Union Steam Ship Company's 2370-ton freighter Wingatui, which, .while en route from Dunedin to Auckland', put into Napier at 8 o'clock last evening owing to an outbreak of the in a portion of her cargo of lime in No. 3 hold, was berthed at the breakwater at one o'clock this morning. A ga-ng of wateraiders immediately set to work moving the cargo from No. 3 hold '.in order ro get at the scat, of the outbreak. Fire extinguishers were used, but it' was not necessary to employ hoses and the outbreak was quelled alter about three* hours. The damage was confined to a charred bulkhead, between t lie hold and a bunker and a few packages of general cargo and a small quantity of lime. Nothing is known of the cause of the tro-.'.01e and the vessel was this morning expected to sail for Auckland early in the afternoon. The position was never serious.
