EMPIRE BUSINESS MEN OTTAWA AGREEMENTS "The federation is meeting here in the belief that this is one of the most important congresses that it has held," said Viscount Elibank, president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire, in an interview in Auckland. "Outstanding subjects, such as the Ottawa agreements and migration, must lake lengthy discussion of uu exceedingly interesting nature. Discussions at our congresses are always outspoken and candid, as it is desirable for business men from different parts of the Empire to be made fully aware of conditions and difficulties in the other parts if they are to arrive at proper conclusions in regard to the co-ordination of Empire trade. "Many of our delegates, having travelled to New Zealand by the Cana, dian-Australasian Line, are more than ever interested in the maintenance of this British shipping line on the All-red Route, and more than ever impressed with the importance of it in the retention and promotion of British trade in Pacific waters. No doubt this will form a subject of discussion at the congress. "Air mails and air services are of deep importance to Empire countries, and they will also be dealt with. In.fact t there is hardly any matter of major importance to Empire trade which will not be reviewed in one form or another at the congress.
"One great advantage of these gatherings is mat business men who come to them from other parts meet not only each other, but business nien of the place where tho congress is held. They also usually take the opportunity to study the possibilities of the country, and often considerable business results."
